Episode Summary | When Hodges enters a crime scene, only to find a group of High School Students, the Crime Cadets, he invites a few of them back to the crime lab for some real crime-fighting action. When he gets there, Katy Cypress and Guillermo Seidel sit down and get handed case files form four moths ago. He introduces them to the crime scene, then Wendy walks in. Hodges pretends she & him are the CSI's on the case, and Wendy pulls him aside for a talk. After telling Wendy to play along and be a role model, she agrees.
Nick gets tied up at the police station, when a bunch of cops start to vomit. After the Cadets figure out the origin of the fire (the furnace), they ask if all the tenants are accounted for, and if anyone recognized her. Brass tells them all the tenants are accounted for, and nobody recognizes her"...so they say." A drunk Brass them rambles for a bit about how people don't care about life and death...you should just go home a cuddle up with some one you love...and that he's going to go on a five-state shooting spree and "take out those bastards one by one, then let copper-jacketed justice take it's sweet release..." He shows putting a gun to his head and pulling the trigger, says ouch, and comes back to reality, saying he wouldn't do that, and that he chooses life, gesturing to his badge. Hodges then states that alchoholism in cops is twice the normal average, and Guillermo states that suicide is triple. Katy asks about a tub from apartment 2B, and comes up with a theory that the vic was in the tub, died of CO poisoning, and when the fire ate away the floor under her, both her and the tub came tumbling down, and the bath oils acted as a shield to protect her from the flames until the firemen (or, as Hodges called them earlier, the Evidence Eradication Crew) showed up. They say it is a good theory, and for a while, it was their theory. Hodges then tells them that most essential bath oils have a very low flashpoint, and that they would have actually drawn the flames toward her. The Cadets then ask about COD, and Hodges goes to get a coroner.
Henry approaches Hodges, and asks him if it would be all right if he asked Wendy out on a date. He says it'll be alright, and he goes to ask Wendy, who enthusiastically agrees.
Nick and the HAZMAT crew are processing the quarantined police station,, and after concluding it isn't airborne or a contact toxin, they remove their masks and collect everything the police men had to eat or drink. Greg then goes to the hospital to check on the sick cops, and gets barffed on.
Back at the lab, David Phillips is talking to the Cadets about the job of a coroner, who are itching to find out COD. He talks about the body, and Al Robbins is looking at LOLcats in the background. They conclude the vic is either Russian or Eastern European. Doc picks up the phone, and hears the CSI's are coming, calms himself down, steals David's notes, and waits for the CSI's. David tells them that COD was multiple drug overdose.
MORE TO COME SOON...I'M GETTING TO IT.
